Brenda Rooney (Rooney Productions) and her partners have an easy-to-digest method for laying out the overall plans for their events. Obviously, a document in this style is extremely useful in identifying what work that will need to be done, by whom, with whom, by when, at what cost. Consider also, how helpful it could be when approaching potential sponsors/partners, or when applying for grants or reporting to funders.
- Townshippers' Day Organizing Committee Guide
Townshippers' Day moves to a new community every year. So each year, the Townshippers' Association works with a new organizing committee to pull off a sucessful event that serves their whole region. They have kindly agreed to share their 25-page Organizers Guide, developed through many years of hands-on experience. It contains many useful lessons about scheduling, staffing, and logistics.

Brenda Rooney has presented inspiring event planning workshops in numerous communities for several years, chock full of inspiring insights and contructive exercises. Brenda's March 22 workshop for ACCORD (see above) was an abridged version of the complete presentation summarized in this document.
- Sample Contract: Shelagh Rogers at Wordfest 2011 (Knowlton)
Kate Wisdom (Townshippers' Association) and her partners at Wordfest were kind enough to share their contract with Shelagh Rogers (stripped of private information fo course). If you think contracts are complex and intimidating, you may be inspired to see that they can be really simple, even when dealing with a nationally-known personality. Note that Wordfest was able to bring in a national radio personaliy for a relatively low fee, by leveraging a friendship with a local personality (in this case, mystery writer Louise Penny) and opportune timing of a charity golf tournament.
