Hot Hot Gossip is a live-theatre lesbian soap opera that centres around a dysfunctional queer female community where No doesn’t mean No, it means LESBIAN DRAMA.

Starring Val Desjardins, Marie-Eve Bertrand, Sasha Van Bon Bon, and Chantria Tram.

Galerie McKenzie Marcotte in Wakefield Qc is pleased to present “Active Ingredients”, an exhibition of acrylic paintings by Norman Takeuchi.These works on canvas are part of his on-going, and continually evolving, exploration of abstract images. Abstraction is enormously appealing to Norman Takeuchi because it presents him with endless opportunities for experimentation and improvisation.

Dennis Cardiff’s hyper-realistic paintings celebrate famous and infamous ladies of burlesque. Cardiff describes his meticulously detailed work as soft realism, a re-arrangement of the elements of real life to the point of creative perfection.

As part of the Routes des Arts, artist Nadia Myre will open her studio to the public for the very first time starting July 26 to August 3.

Come watch the artist at work and see old works, new works, and work in progress. If you would like to do something different, Nadia Myre will host the Scar Project –a piece where viewers participate by sewing their scars (physical, emotional, or spiritual) onto canvas.

This is my way to escape into a world that’s just like ours – but a kinder version. Why can’t you have vast orchards in the middle of a city? Why are subdivisions – fragmented and false communities – so prevalent? Why can’t you build within existing geography and historical structures? Six Cities is an observation of the places I have travelled throughout North America this past year.

Last year, people on six continents synchronized their hula hoops on July 7th in the first World Hoop Day, with hundreds of custom hoops given away and money raised for charity.

This year, this international event will be taking place on August 8th in various venues across Montréal, Canada. The intention is to raise awareness about the positive act of hooping, the global “hoopdance” phenomenon and bring together Montréal’s very own hooping community.

Le Rhythmes Tremblant is an ongoing free event in the heart of the pedestrian village; enjoy the soulful harmonies and groove of Montreal's folk/rock collective "revisiting the strengths of Crosby, Stills & Nash and the groundbreaking Harmonium of years gone by, revamping the formula to give birth to something altogether fresh. Key ingredients in their sound include strong lead vocals; multiple acoustic guitars; and jaw-dropping harmonies. The delicate application of flute, mandolin,.. fiddle and percussion add a progressive edge to an age-old blend that, when coupled with exceptional songwriting, results in a novel approach" (Exclaim)

Montreal’s Laura Archer returned home in August 2007 after working as a nurse for over a year in Central Africa with the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières. 

Compelled to tell the stories of some of the refugees she worked with in Africa, Laura spent the next twelve months painting large acrylic portraits of them. You are invited to join the artist and members of the community for an exhibition of these paintings.

Galerie McKenzie Marcotte in Wakefield Qc is pleased to present an exhibition of wood fired ceramic sculpture by Raymond Warren. The pieces, based on the theme of altitude, have in common either the experience of elevation by various means such as soaring on a swing or walking on stilts or the suggestion of altitude as the figures gaze at the skies. Ceramics produced in wood fire kilns are exciting and unpredictable and these are certainly both.

Come out and explore the many talents of the variety of artists of Aylmer and the surrounding area as you explore the beautiful gardens of Pink’s Farm.

Quixote is inspired by the life of Miguel de Cervantes and his classic work: Don Quixote. First developed as part of a workshop last January at John Abbott College, the show has been expanded to a three-week run in Montreal. Quixote is not a retelling of the Don Quixote story, but an examination of the novel, its author and the cultural phenomena that they have become. From customized masks to a wall of illuminated smoke, the innovative mise-en-scène liberates the historical Cervantes from his original context.

Shows at 8:00 PM, except Sunday and Monday. Sunday matinee at 2:00 PM.

There are several subcategories: Underground art is often a backlash against mainstream art and mainstream culture, Dark art depicts human emotional depths and fears in graphic detail, and Visionary art which is spiritually inspired.
