Book Publishing Support: Translation Grants

This program provides financial assistance for the first translation of literary works written by Canadian authors into French, English or an Aboriginal language, for publication specifically in Canada.

 

Eligibility

For Publishers:

  • The request for funds must be submitted by the publisher only
  • Publishers must be currently participating in the Canada Council's Publishing Grant Program (such as the Emerging Publisher Grant program).

For Translators:

  • Translator must be a Canadian citizen or resident of Canada
  • Translator must also be recognized as a professional translator who has completed a degree in translation and has had at least one literary translation published.
  • Translator will also be considered eligible if he or she is a professional writer
