Using the markup controls

The buttons you see above the form textarea for your bio allow you to format the text to some degree. You may:

Before you can use these controls you must first select the text you wish the button to operate on.

Paragraphs

In order to seperate text into seperate paragraphs, you must place your cursor at the end of some text and hit "return/enter" twice so that you create an empty line between your paragraphs. Typing "return/enter" once will create a new line within the same paragraph.

headers

There are 2 header levels available: 4 & 5 (don't worry about 1–3). To use these, place your text on a new line, select the text and choose the header level from the select list. Your text should change its formatting to the desired header.

Now select your header size in the "Change block type" list.

Lists

There are two types of lists available to you: ordered and unordered. The former presents each line as a numbered item, while the latter simply adds a "bullet" to each item.

To create a list, place each list item on its own line. Then select all of your list items with your cursor and click on one of the list buttons. Your text should now be updated as a list.

Bold & Italic Text

Select the text you would like to format and click the appropriate button.

Links

Select the text you would like to be a link and click the link button. A small window will appear in which you may paste in the URL for the link. Click "OK" and your link will be created.

Viewing the Source

If you would like to see the underlying HTML tags that have been added to your text, click on the "view source". The HTML tags will be revealed. Note that you must click the button a second time to get back into "edit" mode.
