This year’s AGM marks an important milestone in the eight-year history of ELAN, as a number of founding board members have reached their term limits. Join us as we celebrate Chuck Childs, Juliana Espana Keller, Ian Ferrier, Anna Fuerstenberg, Vicki Marcok, Jane Needles, and Kate Wisdom for their years of dedicated service which have helped ELAN grow from an idea into a vibrant community of arts professionals.

The Annual General Meeting is a forum for ELAN’s board and staff to report on the year’s activities and for members to share thoughts or ask questions. It is also the occasion to elect new board members. ELAN is currently accepting nominations for the 2012-13 Board of Directors. All active ELAN members can submit nominations. Think one of your colleagues would make a good representative of the English-speaking artistic community? Please take a moment to nominate them for ELAN’s Board of Directors. Nomination forms can be obtained by emailing admin@quebec-elan.org. Nominations must be received by 5pm, Friday, August 17.

ELAN’s AGM is open to members and observers, however only members can vote. Membership is just $25/yr (FREE for Students, or $15/yr for Friends). Contact Geoff (geoff.agombar@quebec-elan.org or 514.935.3312 ext.1) to confirm the status of your membership.

ELAN's Schmoozers are bi-monthly get-togethers that offer a great chance to make new connections and catch up with old friends. The environment is relaxed. Entry is free and open to all. We recently introduced the MINUTE MARKET to our Schmoozers. The first ten ELAN members to sign up will be given a one-minute spot to market your latest work.

To sign up for the MINUTE MARKET, please contact admin@quebec-elan.org (Subject line 'Schmoozer Minute Market'). You will also be asked to provide a book, CD, art object, or pair of tickets to be offered as a door prize at the Schmoozer.

ABOUT THE ENGLISH-LANGUAGE ARTS NETWORK:
ELAN was created in the wake of a major English-language artistic revival that became evident early in the new century. ELAN's members are artists who work in all disciplines and in many areas across Quebec.

ELAN serves its members in four ways:

• Stimulate networking between thousands of artists working in different disciplines, neighbourhoods and regions.
• Increase networking with francophone colleagues.
• Develop new networking between artists and partners/funders.
• Encourage an evolving Quebec identity that is unified around French as the public language, while recognizing the benefits of social, cultural and artistic diversity.
